Following the closure of all schools last Friday (20th March 2020) Plymouth's secondary school was forced to close their gates and take to their Instagram platform.

The Art department has launched unique ideas to keep their students busy and creative while they are stuck in their homes by setting different daily challanges to produce a piece of artwork, and send it to their teacher and share at the end of each, long day.

Torbridgehighart is a platform to show the art and photography created in the classrooms and then transferred to Instagram posts or stories to celebrate the achievements of their pupils ranging from year seven to thirteen.

Deputy head of the art department, Amee Hole says:

"It's very strange at the moment and that's why i am doing the challanges to give the kids something to focus on or atleast myself."

As an ex photography student I know how calming and thearaputic the art spaces was for me, so I know that these challenges will be helping many students unwind and it really is a good distraction.

The mental health Foundation says that 'participating in arts can enable people to deal with a wide range of mental illnesses' which I'm sure many of us fear under these stricter circumstances.

This is why this is such a fantastic idea to keep people's minds busy and distracted while they are at home.

Day one was to draw or capture your workspace so students picked up their pencils and pens and sketched out their desk spaces, the contents of their pencil cases and photoshopped their spaces with their original ideas

Today was to think outside the box by using the mother's day flowers that you either received or gifted on Sunday to take their beauty and put it on to paper in various ways.

Follow their Instagram to stay updated with how the school is maintaining students to stay creative and passionate about art and really applaud the art teachers at Tor Bridge High for keeping the spirits high in such a dull time.

Comment the artwork you have produced since being in self-isolation and any challenge ideas.
